Psychotherapy Handout: Tool for Gratitude

The Thanksgiving holiday is a perfect time to remember the power of gratitude. Gratitude is a natural anti-depressant and a little bit goes a long way. Speaking of and showing gratitude creates an uplifting environment for both you and others.

One easy way to give yourself a dose of gratitude each day is to use your fingers as a reminder of an aspect of life for which you are grateful. My “Give Yourself a Hand” handout explains how to do this. You can see it under the Tools section of my website.

Instead of, or in addition to, the traditional grace before your big Thanksgiving meal, use this tool to offer your dinner guests a way to increase their joy by sharing their gratitude.

Happy Thanksgiving!
